Assess and Monitor Your Organizational Risk

Begin with a risk and readiness assessment of your organization. When executed well, this assessment will indicate the possibility of an implementation being successful and what associated barriers need to be addressed early in the process. The objectives of this assessment include:

  • Identify barriers which must be addressed
  • Identify opportunities to leverage organizational strengths
  • Measure the ability of your organization and workforce to embrace change
  • Assess the alignment of leadership and resources
  • Determine the effectiveness of your organization’s current approach to learning
  • Identify which systems and processes hold people accountable
  • Provide team members with a way to provide feedback

The Need to Align Leaders

While institutions may have a large vision related to instruction, there are many ways this can be interpreted by leaders. Without a specific and targeted plan, change in learning can lead to fatigue or anxiety, as well as a sense that nothing is really changing. Creating a clear, specific definition of the future state is critical, at both the institutional and initiative levels.
